Chess Lofts Water Infiltration Survey

Most of you have likely received the survey either via e-mail or via a hard copy. Nevertheless here's the link.

Please take the time to complete this survey.

Also there's a new poll to determine the necessity for this site - please cast your vote.

General mess in and around the building...

Since about 3 weeks ago we've noticed a disturbing trend. On a consistent basis there's garbage and what appears to be urine (dog or human?!!!) in the elevators. There are empty beer bottles outside the building. There are cars with tinted windows blocking the alley with engines running and people inside, who, apparently, don't reside in our building, waiting for who knows what.

We want to see if we're the only ones who've noticed this and are concerned.

Is this just irresponsible behavior of the owners or is it new renters who may not care about the place where they live as much as the owners do?

Association Turnover Meeting

Fellow owners,

We mentioned earlier that a turnover meeting would be coming up soon. Naturally we were excited to get a letter from Jessica about the meeting, which will take place on

Monday, February 28, 2011
Chicago Park District - Park 550
1801 S Indiana (enter on 18th street)
7:00pm-9:00pm

In case you didn't get the letter, the main purpose of the meeting is to elect the Board of Directors. We are curious what other thoughts or concerns are; perhaps we could discuss them at the meeting, pending time constraints.

Roofdeck

Hello fellow residents,

Though it is a bit premature to talk about it now, time flies and, in preparation for summer, it would be interesting to know of what is actually planned for the roof deck. When we were sold a unit we were told the deck would be outfitted with a grill and patio furniture. Does anyone know any details?

For some reason the links to the site have been taken down from the lobby, so please spread the word to your neighbors.

Report your meter reading to ComEd

Today we got a call from ComEd asking to report our meter reading in order to avoid being charged for an estimated reading. Past experiences show that those readings are grossly overestimated so if you want to avoid dealing with ComEd billing go to this link https://support.comed.com/doc/ce10030.xml

Also if anyone knows where meters to be read are located please explain in the comments section.

Triad Sushi - Groupon

Ever since we moved to Chess Lofts we felt it's important to support local retail and entertainment scene, though some may deny its existence.

So we thought we'd give you a heads up on today's Groupon offer for Triad Sushi even though there are just a few hours left on this deal. Though we all have different opinions on where to get the best sushi, Triad is close and it's half off. Check it out - we bought one.

Forum is up!

Dear Chess Lofts residents,

We're excited to announce that the official blog for our association is up and running (only to be mentioned once: my name is Sergey and I have recently purchased a unit here at Chess Lofts, but going forward a neutral editorial "we" will be used)!

Ever since we've moved here to Chess Lofts, we immediately had tons of questions relating to many day-to-day issues, like the association, board meetings, taxes, Soldier Field parking permits, the neighborhood, internet and cable options to name a few. We're sure at some point you've felt the same and scrambled to get the answers you needed and left countless voice-mails to our property manager, Jessica. We felt there was an information vacuum that needed to be filled; there needed to be a forum for all of our neighbors to socialize, share knowledge and tips and to make all of our lives easier.

This site was created in a blog format and may eventually evolve into something completely different depending on the nature of participation. We welcome you and ask that you take it away in the comments section with your thoughts, comments and suggestions.
